OTF NuNu, Lil Durk’s cousin and rap affiliate, was murdered in cold-blood over the weekend. The 21-year-old was parked in the lot of a shopping mall located on the Chatham area of south-side of Chicago when an assailant approached the vehicle on foot and opened fire at 3:19 pm.
Nunu tried to flee the scene but his wounds were fatal and caused him to drive into the front of a store. The picture below was taken by someone on the scene. You can see NuNu’s body still in the truck slumped over.
Police were on the scene shortly thereafter but here is where things get a little sketchy. Allegedly, Nunu was still breathing and could have possibly been saved but the police wouldn’t allow anyone close enough to him claiming it was a crime scene. Read below for the personal account of someone actually on the scene.
Police haven’t disclosed any details surrounding the case or his assailant but the buzz is that NuNu’s twitter beef on May 29th was the cause of his demise.
Chicago, now being called “ChiRaq,” is experiencing gun violence at an alarming rate. The new era of rappers emerging from the Chi are mostly making “drill” music which glorifies killing and gang life. Consequently, the beefs starting over wax are now being finished in the streets. Chief Keef and Lil Durk, rivalries who’s music is said to be part of the escalation of the gang wars, have both experienced deaths in their camps and it seems the retaliation will never end.
I’m not sure what will stop the senseless shootings here in the Windy City. But I do know our young people are an endangered species and something must be done. It’s more to life than “drilling” and being “savages.” There were mentions of the National Guard being called in and I’m starting to think that’s not a bad idea.
