For the past few years natural hair has been a trend. Even though there are girls and women who’ve been natural their entire lives, it’s taken the rest of the world a while to catch on. For those who don’t know natural hair care changes along with the seasons, so it’s necessary to come up with a plan. Here are some of the expected protective styles for the fall.
For starters let me define “protective style”. A protective style is exactly what the title says; it is a way for you to style your hair that requires low maintenance and protects it from any harsh treatment. Also protective styles aren’t exclusive to naturals; anyone’s welcome to try it.
- Poetic Justice Braids: Braids are a timeless and classic hairstyle. They’ve been around for decades, but every now and then braids seem to reinvent themselves. In addition to braids being a protective style they’re very versatile (for styling) and last a good two months with great care of course.
2. Faux locs: Faux locs are probably the newest and most popular of the natural hair community right now. A lot of celebrities have been spotted wearing faux locs and that’s a good way to gain exposure.
3. Turbans: We can thank Ms. Erykah Badu for making this trend popular. Turbans, like box braids, are versatile when it comes to styling them. Also they come in a variety of patterns and colors. Turbans do more than just cover up “messy” hair; you can be deep conditioning your hair while wearing a turban and no one would even know.
You’re not limited to only wearing these styles. They’re so many other protective styles to choose from. As long as you give your hair and yourself a break you’re good. You deserve it.
