Austin Redmon might be young, but he’s definitely ready. The Jersey City, NJ native is a full package deal who brings a lot to the table. He doesn’t simply limit himself as an R&B singer, Austin is also a songwriter, dancer, producer, and more importantly a hard worker. Ask anyone who’s met him and they’ll say that he’s fun but serious about his craft.
The 28-year-old singer recently released his first single, “Just Like I Want You“. The song in very sensual, but it has enough beat to make you want to move. The single is accompanied by a music video which features a captivating performance by Austin. In the video, he’s depicted as the smooth R&B singer, backed up by three beautiful dancers. Talk about art imitating life.
Austin has also been working hard on his first project, “The Austin Chronicles”. He wants to drop an EP of the project by the end of Summer before he officially releases the album. According to Austin, everything that he has gone through in his career came to him in a dream. Now his dreams are starting to take life, and the experience is even better than he could ever imagine.
All of his life, Austin has been surrounded by music and performing. He’s been performing since the age of 8-years-old. Through his family, he fell in love with songwriting and producing. As a child, he was able to witness some of the behind scenes work of creating music. Austin often visited the house of a family member who worked with artists such as Mary J. Blige and Case. From then on, he followed the careers of artists like Michael Jackson, Brandy, Usher, and Beyonce; drawing on their influence for inspiration.
Around the age of 17-years-old Austin decided that the wanted a career in the music industry. He studied Audio Engineering and Production for Music at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City. Austin furthered his musical education by securing internships and jobs at several record labels, including Universal Music Group, RCA, and Warner Bros Records.
Austin’s musical talent was discovered after he posted videos of himself singing cover songs on Instagram. He received a lot of positive feedback from his social media videos and even got a nod from R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan. His social media presence also garnered the attention of songwriters and producers, who let him know that they wanted to work with him. Austin would later take some of them up on their offer to help create his first body of work.
There’s not much outside of music for Austin. He’s laser focused on his career, which doesn’t leave him any time for dating or a relationship. He likes to joke that music is the only thing he’s seeing regularly. In addition to working on his music, he takes dance classes at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. Dancing is not just a craft for him, it’s a part of his workout regimen which includes hitting the gym 4-5 times a week. Austin also maintains a balanced diet and tries to abstain from red meat; unfortunately, it’s hard for him to escape the allure of a delicious cheeseburger.
Aside from fitness, Austin keeps up his appearance by making sure that he cleanses his skin and gets weekly haircuts. His father owns a barbershop, so his constant need for hair maintenance doesn’t affect his pockets. He likes to feel good and look good, and describes his style as “elevated” because he likes to mix and match simple pieces to take his outfit to the next level. However, Austin never leaves the house without a pair of sunglasses. Shades are his staple and he’s confessed that he’s a sunglasses fanatic. He owns several pairs of sunglasses, but not enough to have him committed to a group of people who overindulged.
Austin whole-hearted loves music and is happiest when he can do anything music related. Ultimately, he wants to have his own record label. He looks to Diddy as an inspiration and a mentor from afar. For now, he plans on releasing his follow-up single “More”. Austin describes his second single as “stripped down and personal” compared to his debut single “Just Like I Want You”. He also has a YouTube docu-series titled “The Austin Chronicles“, which showcases the work that he puts into his music and his journey as an independent artist. Austin is determined to use his music to create an experience that no one will ever forget an experience; funded solely by his own pockets.
