Remember When Alicia Keys Screamed, “Call Me”?

Back on her first album Alicia Keys belted her pipes out on “How Come You Don’t Call Me” which had all of us bopping our heads back and forth in 2001. Excuse me as I date some of us. For the babies reading this, that’s before “No One” was released. She creatively gave life to how many of us have felt about a guy we’ve waited to hear from. Nowadays, it’s more like waiting on a text back. Honestly, call me old school, but I function off the phone call. I want my man to call me oppose to just a quick text. The feeling of hearing his voice is alluring and fulfilling. Go ahead ladies I know you agree with me especially when he has a sexy voice.

Its kind of sad how we’ve fallen into a realm of disconnect with a simple phone call in modern times. You would think with all the social mediums we would communicate better, but its back fired. No one wants to talk or yet have more to say in text rather in person. There is nothing like actually having a verbal simulating conversation without words getting misconstrued. There is clarity and understanding right then and there. We’ve all had that moment getting pissed at a text we read the wrong way. I dare you to say you haven’t.

Either way before I start a rant after listening to the track and talking to one of my girls, why are women still awaiting for the first call to be made? I mean are we still waiting on something so effortless? I say if you’re feeling a guy just pick up the phone and call even if you just got his number. To me calling him first is the best way to break the ice. It shows fearlessness and a good way for you to give him your contact info. This allows him to feel free to call you back as well. Most importantly it’s a bold move that stands out; don’t get stalker status on him though. Simply call once and leave a message if need be. Following the initial phone call of course texting is easy to follow, so shake the nerves and start a new way of thinking.
