Looks like the pen has the power to make anyone turn over a new leaf. After spending over six years in prison we all know now that Remy Ma is back and on her grind, but did you really know her plans?
It turns out that Remy has a vision of one that very similar to what Missy Elliot has been saying for years. Her only deifference is that she wants to just on a track with only female rappers that are hot right now.
Recently in Remy’s own words she decided to dissect the issues in hip hop for female rappers. The rapper stated,
“What I think happens with females in this game, they tend to allow other people to put us against each other. I’ve said this before. They make it seem like there can only be one female. It can be a thousand guys that’s putting out music and rapping and doing what they do, but when it comes to females in this hip-hop business, they make it seem like it can only be one, and if there’s more than one then, ‘Alright, y’all better be at each other’s throats every chance that you get.’”
The rapptress has a valid point, but think about it men have always done that with women throughout time. Although women may out number men in the world men still know how to come together in unison. While women tend to tear one another down. This happens day-to-day whether its fashion, hair, makeup, or looks. Men on the other hand leave it straight to the topic at hand, the music.
She continued,
“I think it would really be dope if we could get like a ill chick record with everybody who’s doing what they’re doing right now. Me, maybe Iggy Azalea, Nicki, like just do like a nice little collabo.”
Stranger things have happened (ex: Nicki’s ‘Flawless” collab with Beyoncé), but who knows? Nicki doesn’t very well seem like the type willing to share the spotlight. Out the gate the rapptress did go after Lil Kim. We must see how this all plays in the long run. It would definielty be a moment to remember in hip-hop not just female hip-hop.
Remy concludes:
“I’ve been talking to Khaled since I was still incarcerated, and he has a lot of great ideas and things he would like to do. I didn’t sign with anyone yet,” she said. “I don’t know where I wanna sign yet. I just know I got so much sh-t I wanna say, and so much great songs that I think the world need to hear.”
