“I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember.”

“So my mom was like, what am I going to do with this little alien kid lol. There was this audition for The Color Purple in New York and I asked my mom if I could go to it and just see what happens. So my granddad drove me from Detroit, Michigan to New York and I auditioned for the people putting on the production. However I was too young to be in it, but the director ended up taking a chance and writing me in anyways, making me young Nettie. He was like I believe in this little kid with the big voice and it was the first thing professionally I’ve ever done.”

Jumpstarting her acting career off from broadway, shortly after her run as Nala from the hit musical The Lion King, Diamond went on to audition for and land many animated voiceover roles for some of the most popular animated children series on Nickelodeon and Disney. Diamond goes on to talk about her latest animated series getting ready to hit daytime TV in the New Year.

“I have a show called Pinky Malinky coming out in February on Nickelodeon and I’m super excited about it. I play this really energetic character and it’s funny because my voice hasn’t really changed since I was seven, so I’m glad that animation is something that I can always go back too. It’s so much fun and you don’t have to look good to do it, you can just go and record, sing a little bit and then your done.”

If you’re not familiar with this starlet yet, then you’ll definitely remember her from Tyler Perry’s latest Madea installment, Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween as the lead character and also Perry’s unruly daughter Tiffany.

“It was my first feature film and working for Tyler Perry was insane.”

“The whole cast was so nice and Tyler was the biggest goofball of them all lol. He’s not one of those people that will hire you for a project and then leave you out to die. He keeps you under his wing and really makes a family and I’m so thankful for that film because I had the best time doing it.”

Not only is Diamond an amazing actress but she’s also got vocals for days. As a young singer and songwriter, Diamond is more than ready to show off her amazing voice to the mass with her latest single “Chainsmokers” already released via itunes

“I wrote the concept for that song when I was about 14. I just kept it hidden in one of my books and never really went back to it until I had got into the studio with RZA one day. He was making this one beat and I started to hum the lyrics to it, and then I was like wait this goes perfectly. So I had pulled out the lyrics and everything ended up fitting. It was crazy because everything was coming so fast, the same week we made the song I was able to put it out and I’m super excited to see what it does.”

In an arena filled with many young actresses and singers like herself, Diamond goes on to explain who she looks up to in the entertainment business.

“KeKe Palmer is like my mom I love her!”

“You know I’ve always looked up to people who exudes the essence of power and I feel like KeKe is definitely one of those people. Plus I love her style! I also love Teyana Taylor as well, she’s amazing.”

If your not one of her 160k followers on Instagram then you’re definitely late, because not only is this starlet killing the acting and singing game with her many talents, but she’s also killing the fashion scene as well with her dope and eclectic sense of style.

“I have a very schizophrenic style. I really just go by if I like it, I’ll wear it. I’m not too specific but I do love finding pieces from my favorite stores like Zara and Topshop. I like wearing weird pieces.”

As the year comes to a close, Diamond goes on to tell her most memorable moment of 2016.

“My most memorable moment of 2016 would definitely have to be after doing the Madea movie just going back home and being recognized by everyone. Also, just the whole experience of working on my first ever feature film with such an amazing cast and crew. That was really my most memorable moment of 2016 just working with Tyler Perry altogether.”
