If you haven’t already heard the news–Sex and the City is back! Yes, its true. And just like that, the fashion, drama, style and of course the sex continues, but only for a limited time. Airing on HBO Max, the limited Sex and the City series gives viewers a glimpse into the current lives of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes after the end of the last season.
The Sex and the City reboot is set to be a short continuation of the series that we all fell in love with.
With word of a longstanding and well documented feud between Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) and Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Cattrall isn’t expected to be a part of the Sex and the City reboot. While this is no surprise, and certainly not new news, Samantha was my favorite character and I’m a bit saddened that she won’t be a part of the reboot. It’s unclear how Sex and the City writers are going to move forward without Samantha Jones, and there have been whispers about having someone else play the character—or write to her out altogether. The latter appears to be the most likely answer.
Quoted from an HBO Max news release for Sex and the City, “the new series will star Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York Goldenblatt), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) playing their original characters as “they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”
While Samantha won’t be seen on the Sex and the City Reebot, another character Mr. Big will be making an appearance. The news was confirmed on May 26th by HBO Max that Chris Noth would be returning to the show along side his Sex and the City co-stars.
