Superhero movies are here to stay–well they are tentatively planned to nearly 2030! Still, one of the biggest showdowns in superhero movie landscape involves Disney as it attempts yet again to purchase Twenty-First Century’s movie and television rights to properties like the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Disney owns the vast majority of Marvel Comics’ movie rights and has worked out a deal with Sony to share Spider-Man. However, it is thanks to two Black superheroes–in part–that Disney really wants the X-Men back!
Sources close to the acquisition are allegedly stating that fans demanding to see Black Panther and Storm’s love affair on the Big Screen are fueling Disney’s fervor to have the X-Men on their roster!
As you may recall, in the comics not are Storm and Black Panther two of the most popular superheroes on the planet, they were for a time romantically involved, eventually married, and even have a daughter in the future. In fact, Storm lost her virginity to him in a flashback that explained the closeness between the two. Although the two heroes are no longer married–catch up on AvX: Avengers vs. X-Men, that is not stopping fans from wanting to see Black Love between the two play out in the movies.
Fans are making it very clear that they will not tolerate The Wakandan King having any love interest besides the X-Men’s resident Weather Witch. Alexandra Shipp, the young actress currently playing Storm in the newer X-Men films, has even stated she wants to see the Storm and Black Panther together.
Well, we are definitely here for this acquisition more than ever! Sure we definitely want to see Storm and Black Panther together, but more so we want the X-Men and Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the Fourth Phase of Marvel beginning after Avengers: Infinity War the timing for Marvel’s merry mutants and First Family to come aboard could not be better.
