Avoid winter weight gain by staying active this Christmas. The average person gains 5-10 pounds during the holiday. Eat clean pre-Christmas and make your busy schedule work in your favor to protect your waistline. Holiday tasks like Christmas shopping can help you stay fit this season. You are getting a great workout by walking through the stores, standing in line and carrying your purchases. Work your derrière and tone your thighs when shopping by taking the stairs rather than the escalator or elevator. Store hopping can be chaotic. A tip to avoid Christmas shoppers and to burn extra calories is to intentionally park your car a distance away from the store.
Kontrol Tip: Don’t take “shop till you drop” literally. Drink water and stay hydrated! Your brain can sometimes mistake thirst with hunger.

A workout schedule will help you stick to your exercise routine and stay motivated. If you can’t fit the gym in your schedule simply work it out at home. Burn a minimum of 400 calories an hour by jumping rope or jogging in place. If you have stairs in your home put them to use by running up and down them for 20 minutes. You can make the holidays a family affair and keep everyone active by planning a bicycle ride or by going ice skating. A great way to get your cardio in is by going out for a well-deserved night out on the town. You could burn up to 400 calories letting your hair down and dancing the night away.
Kontrol To-Go: Traveling this Christmas? You can still get your workout in at the airport. Layovers are a perfect time to stay active by doing toe raises, walking, and squats.
Healthy holidays everyone!
