Take Kontrol: Fit to Feast

No Meat November should have you feeling light and full of energy. It is pointless to let your healthy eating and exercise go to waste due to the holiday. If you want to indulge this season be prepared to burn it off. Forget trying to make the gym’s holiday hours and workout in the comfort of your home!

Kontrol Tip: Taking a trip for Thanksgiving? It is ideal if your hotel/resort has a gym but if not the Russian twist and double leg drop are simple exercises that are perfect to do in your hotel room.

Russian Twist

1. Sit with knees bent, feet lifted from floor, and torso at a 45-degree angle.

2. Hold fists together (or for more challenge, hold onto a medicine ball or light free weight), elbows tucked into sides.

3. Twist torso from side to side, abs engaged. (During twist, exhale as you pull abs in to support the spine)

15-20 Reps 3X

 Kontrol Tip: Be “grateful” without a “plate full”

Double Leg Drop

  1. Start lying on back with legs straight up above hips and arms alongside body.
  2. Tighten your abdominals and press low back into mat as you slowly lower your legs as far as you can without letting your back lift.
  3. Slowly lift legs back to start position and repeat.

10 Reps 3X

This is the time of year when we take a break from our busy schedules to give thanks for all of the good in our lives. Don’t deprive yourself. Have your cheat day and enjoy your favorite foods. Indulge for one day then get back on it! Stay fit and motivated by keeping up with an exercise routine this holiday season.
