Ok ladies, how often do we see an outstanding R&B group that wasn’t formed in the 90s? If you can’t remember, no worries. Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank have come together bringing their distinctive voices in their first album as a group, Three Kings. I’ll be the first to admit that I had given up on new R&B groups and yearned for classic R&B music.
TGT is just what we were all missing and if you are a little thirsty like I was, these three sexy grown men are going to quench your thirst! The album presents 17 cuts, which you can listen to all the way though. If you are able to listen to the first song “Take It Wrong” featuring Tyrese’s alter ego Black-Ty, you will imagine yourself at a TGT show throwing your panties on the stage! Oops maybe that was just me. Seriously you will be hooked and a TGT fan for sure.
Trust me ladies, I had it on repeat 3 times. For those of you that know the greatness of New Edition’s Heartbreak album with “Can You Stand The rain,” or LSG’s Levert.Sweat.Gill album with “My Body” it took me back in time to when music was that impressive. I just have to thank these brothers for making the decision to deliver us REAL R&B with what Tyrese refers to as “Venom.” Artists like Teddy Pendergrass, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, R. Kelly, Stevie Wonder and Gerald & Eddie Levert are obvious influences in the overall sound.
My other favorites on the album are “Hurry” which will have you rushing in your car to meet your boo-thing, even though you know your hair is about to get sweated out. “Sex Never Felt Better” is a straight to the point modern serenade, and “I Need” is a hopeful ballad for the man who made mistakes but wants to make it right. What would R&B without a little ‘baby please take me back’?
TGT has a solid fan base for life as long as they continue to produce the quality music and maintain the chemistry that comes natural to them. Listen to the album if you haven’t already and fall in love with R&B all over again. Log in at www.tgtlife.com and stay tuned.
We had a problem with the state of R&B… The music these days is lacking “conviction.” We have a responsibility to be the soundtrack of your bedroom, your begging for forgiveness, your wedding, your proposal, your sex after a good argument….yeah… This is what R&B was born on, true rhythm and blues. –Tyrese
I have to say that if it was not for us forming this group, I’m not sure I would still be doing this entertainment thing. I was tapped out, doing the same thing over and over again… -Ginuwine
I’d like to thank every Tank, Ginuwine and Tyrese fan for their continued love and support…We need you! I’d like to thank every victory and every heartbreak that has inspired me to be creative. -Tank
