Yes, you read it right the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show in Paris hit record numbers tonight. As expected these years show topped last years in record audience viewership. No surprise, though, especially since this year’s show is the most expensive in Victoria Secret History, costing over $20 million. Nonetheless, money is not a problem when it comes to this lavish brand. This year’s showcase featured 51 models in 82 looks, with a roster that included Adriana Lima, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio, Kendall Jenner and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid. The show kicked off with an Asian Harajuku inspired collection where big name models, Alexandra Ambrosio, Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima & Joan Smalls to name a few set the show off with of course their killer bodies, costume wings, oh and the lingerie collection. Then Lady Gaga Hit the stage to perform a slow and dramatic ballad “A Million Reasons” in which models took to the runway on.
Also, did you notice something different this year? Aside from a number of models chosen to walk the sparkling runway, VS did something different by allowing a handful of the beautiful models rock their natural cut hair, primarily the models with a little more melanin. Cool, right?
Anyways as the show proceeded Gaga performed another more upbeat tune, then came to Bruno Mars and his hulligan gang performing “Chunky” and later on in the show the radio hit “24k Magic”. The Weeknd was also in the lineup, performing his hit “Starboy”. Within the hour-long showcase, the angels took to the runway in themed collections like Road Ahead, Secret Angel, Mountain Romance, Dark Angel, Bright Night Angel and Pink Nation. Jasmine Tookes wore the $3 million Bright Night bra set with an estimated 450 karats of diamonds and emeralds designed by Eddie Borgo.
The show ended with of course the final walk by all models and VS angels to close another great showcase. The 2016 Victoria Secret Fashion Show was an event not to have been missed. Get into the some of the highlight photos from this year’s event!
