It’s official! NBA’s sixth man, Lou Williams, has elected to take join the LA Lakers after being a free agent. The former Toronto Raptor guard announced the decision via soctal media on yesterday. Allegedly, Williams’ contract is worth $21 million over a three year span!
Williams has averaged a career-high of 15.5 points last season and was named Sixth Man of the Year. Additionally, he’s also averaged double figures in scoring each year for the past eight years. After winning the Sixth Man title, the 28-year-old spoke about his uphill battle when he tore his ACL during his time as an Atlanta Hawk.
“I didn’t think I was going to be the same player [after ACL tear]. I knew I wasn’t going to have the foot speed I once had, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to jump as high. But it taught me to be smart and I worked on different parts of my game. Being able to evolve and change my game to win this award is very gratifying.”
The move to LA could be the rejuvenation the team needs in bring in a new era of the Lakeshow and help the struggling team.
