Trend Report: Thigh High Boots

For years, fall has been the time when women dust off those all important boots to accessorize their long coats and scarves.

As of late, one thing I’ve noticed as I’ve been scrolling through various fashion shows is the use of boots for spring summer. And the boots that have been widely used have been the daring up to there thigh high boots. From Chanel to Balmain, lots of the looks were shod by nearly crotch high boots that would make even the most fashion forward woman blush.

So how does one pull off such a daring look? After all most women aren’t six feet tall models who can stomp around the city and look flawless. Style wise, the obvious thing would be pairing them with anything short. Never be afraid of going too short since most of your leg will be covered. The boots from Balmain’s resort 2018 collection add a splash of sexy with the lace up detail that spans the entire length of the boots.

For those who aren’t as courageous, you could take the more demure approach and rock your thigh highs with a longer skirt. This way guarantees you’re completely covered while still being able to stay on trend. Chanel and Balenciaga featured looks styled this way which was a big hit among the fashion press.

An extreme version of this trend was seen at Vetements which showed men as well as women rocking boots that were hip high. Made in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik and Doc Martin, Vetements took the trend to new heights (pun intended).  This would most likely only be a favorite amongst those who favor a more high fashion look, however if A$AP Rocky or Wiz Khalifa were seen around town in these, the after effect would likely be instantaneous. As far as trends go, this one isn’t for the faint of heart. Confidence is key, as with any piece, so don’t be afraid to elevate your shoe game.
