Ladies and Gentleman Trigga Trey has done it again! According to Billboard, Trey Songz has a second no.1 album on his hands.
The R&B crooner’s newly released sixth studio album Trigga, which was release on July 1, sold 105,000 copies at the end of the week ending in July 6 (Nielsen SoundScan).
Although Trigga did not sell as much in its first week as his fifth studio album, Chapter V, I would say Trey has something to be proud of. This is a solid album that confronts everyday relationship issues like cheating, temptation, and of course sex.
Tracks like Disrespectful, which discusses a deep love between two people although they are in relationships with other people, and Cake, which discusses what I believe every man (and possibly woman) goes through by wanting to be selfish in their own right and have their cake and eat it too, shows his growth musically and in this seemingly lacking genre of real R&B.
Additionally, singles like Na Na and Smartphones I believed set promotional standards for listeners to want to purchase and listen to the album.
Trigga has appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Nicki Minaj, & Justin Beiber who is featured on the Foreign remix (a song that I love might I add).
If you have not purchased and listened to Trigga I encourage that you do so. It’s a great album and it’s an album you can listen to from beginning to end.
Great job Trigga Trey! Can’t wait for the tour!
