D.C native rapper Wale has been very hands-on with the Washington Wizards every since he got hired as the “Creative Liaison” back in October. He has been doing everything from blowing up social media with Wizard promos to giveaways at the home games. But, Wale is looking to push the brand even further!
Wale spoke to ESPN The Magazine about his relationship with the Wizards. He even spoke about his current role as the Creative Liaison for the team and even mentioned grabbing Kanye West to help design fly gear for the team:
“I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball,” he said. “My job is to provide a spark, at all costs. I’m not going to do anything corny, but I’m talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms. I want to see the phone booth rocking every time I come here. I want to create the ‘Lake Show,’ create what the Bulls had. I want to take the personality of our stars—John [Wall], Otto [Porter], Marcin [Gortat]—and create what Kemp and Payton had, what LeBron and D-Wade had. That’s the vibe I want.”
How crazy would it be to see the Washington Wizards come out to the court in leather warm-up pants and lamb-skin shoot-around shirts/sweat jackets? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
