Nerds, fanboys, fangirls, and superhero lovers in general can all sing their praises to the comic gods above because it’s official–Young Justice is returning for a third season! It has been nearly three years since the series was canceled off Cartoon Network, but today Warner Bros. Animation has announced its renewal.
“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, in a statement. “We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
Young Justice centers on young superheroes, mostly the sidekicks and partners of the Justice League like Robin, Aqualad, Superboy, Wonder Girl, and Kid Flash, but later added more obscure teen heroes like Rocket, Bumblebee, Mal Duncan, Blue Beetle, Static, Miss Martian, and Artemis.
The teen heroes managed to defeat a brainwashed Justice League and in the second season defeated “The Light,” a team of super villains inspired by The Legion of Doom and Society of Super Villains. In the series finale, Darkseid, was introduced leaving us on an exciting cliffhanger! Production has begun on the third season and it promises ““new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.”
We cannot wait for the third season and really hope they air it on Netflix! This will give the series a chance to mature and take on a darker tone. Anyway they bring our heroes back and take on Darkseid is totally okay with us! Welcome back Young Justice!
