Tomorrow, May 13, 2014, Spelman College will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its pre-eminent annual Leadership and Women of Color Conference. The theme of the conference is titled “21st Century Leadership: Leading Forward”. Through this platform the conference will explore several essential components vital to leadership success. Conference speakers include retired NBC Universal Chief Diversity officer and multimillion dollar businesswoman Paula Madison, the first African American female major General in the U.S. Army Reserve Major General Marcia Anderson, Civil Rights Icon Roslyn Pope, former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, award winning journalist and host of NPR’s “Tell Me More” Micheal Martin, and award winning journalist, editor, author and Essence Magazine Editor-in-Chief Vanessa Bush. The event will be hosted by Emmy Award winning journalist and Access Hollywood host Shaun Robinson. This amazing event two day will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center on May 14-15!
Executive Director of the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (LEADS) at Spelman College, Jane E. Smith Ed.D, looks to engage attendees from business, public policy, media and education in detailed discussions on leadership strategies that foster collaborative innovation, outline the role of advocacy and policy also providing blueprints for 21st century leadership. With this year’s theme being “Leading Forward” the conference will feature women who currently lead global strategies that improve organizational and personal effectiveness.
