The Met Gala 2022: The Best Dressed List

Home / Single Post

The dust has finally settled as we wrap-up one of fashion and costumes’ biggest night at the 2022 Met Gala. I’m happier with this year’s Met Gala red-carpet, as there were more hits than misses. Actress and typical red-carpet A-lister Glenn Close wore my favorite look of the night, a hot pink suit and embellished cloak. Regina King stunned in a sequined Michel Kors dress and matching pin-stripe trench. If you haven’t gotten the hint yet, capes are always a good red-carpet option. I would have liked to see a bit more drama from Regina. Michael Kors is one of the masters of minimalist fashion and this year’s Met Gala was the perfect opportunity to hit them with the ole razzle dazzle. In the case of the Met Gala, less will usually end up looking like less, but more is normally the right option. Attendees shouldn’t back away from exuberant creative expression.

Kim Kardashian wore a vintage gown originally worn by Marilyn Monroe to this year’s Met Gala ceremony.

You can say what you want about Kim Kardashian, but one thing she knows how to do is deliver a result. I use the word iconic sparingly, but there’s no other word to better describe Kim’s choice. Blake Livley wore a stunning Atelier Versace gown that transformed on the red-carpet. While Glenn Close was my favorite look, its Blake Lively that comes in as top contender for the Met Gala 2022.          Being that she and I are both from Detroit, I like keep a close eye on Lizzo’s style choices. I’m usually pretty forgiving with her red-carpet selections. Keep in mind, Lizzo is willing to experiment and also tends to stray away from safer looks which leaves plenty of room for experimentation. This is an important factor to remember. The Met Gala is easily one of the most important events for fashion and costume design, so a little experimentation is good. However, the challenge with her at times is execution (I always look at the stylist first). The embellished robe she wore, a high-point in her look, was created by iconic fashion designer Thom Browne.
