2020 has been a crazy year and it’s almost over after 12 long long months, so let’s not spend time mulling over the dramatics of this year and look forwards to 2021 and the rest of the coming decade, there’s so much to look forward to, new tech, new music and new experiences aplenty. And what better to talk about than interior design and how it’ll evolve in the future, so let’s look at some of the best interior deco trends that will be cropping up in 2021 and beyond.
Comfort and Style
One big trend that we’ve already seen is the philosophy of comfort over style, as the coronavirus forced us all to stay home, décor influencers gave up the pursuit of a perfectly styled home in favour of having a comfortable, relaxing space.
Because of this trend, comfort first design choices will be a popular choice in 2021, from luscious shagpile carpets to cosy seating and warm blankets scattered around rooms to keep comfortable. This will certainly be a big trend going forwards and we can’t wait to see how far the comfy revolution goes.
Vibrant Colors Trump Neutral Tones
The majority of homes in the UK use neutral colours as a big part of their décor plan, but after years and years of looking at Magnolia walls, people are starting to tire of seeing 100’s of shades of beige and as such people are dumping their beiges en-masse in favour of adding in bright, vibrant, mood boosting colours.
So as a general trend, we’ll see more and more homes going for beautiful, powerful colours, creating interesting rooms across the country with stimulating colours and exciting colour pairings. But keep in mind that while beige and other neutral tones can be paired with almost any colour, bright colours cannot, so before you go too crazy with the colours in your home, maybe check out a color pairing chart to make sure you don’t wander into garish territory.
Day And Night Blinds
Day and Night blinds are the new kids on the block in the blinds world, only being developed in the past few years they’ve taken the blinds world by storm. As the name ‘Day and Night Blinds” suggests these blinds are made to be excellent blinds both in day time and at night time. These blinds are similar to traditional roller blinds, but rather than being a single sheet of material, these blinds are made with alternating strips of opaque and see through material.
As well as having the power to alternate between completely blocking out outside light at night time and letting light pour through in the day time. Because of the nature of the alternating fabric stripes, they also look quite stunning and stylish. The stripes from these blinds will match up well in a room where the décor is already focused around stripes of colour already and you can choose a colour that will pair well with the décor already established in a room.
