From October 19, 2014 through January 4, 2015, MODA will be presenting Inspiring Beauty, the first exhibition on the Ebony Fashion Fair exploring 50 years of African-American fashion history. Atlanta will be the second city to host the exhibition coming from Chicago. MODA’s executive director, Laura Flusche describes the exposition as based on fashion and design but also relating the story of Eunice W. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson, founder of the magazine Ebony Fashion Fair, tried to give equal access to glamour and beauty to everyone. Through her own magazine founded in 1958, Johnson was THE woman who brought high fashion to African-American people.
Flushe also states that whether you like fashion or not, this is a powerful exhibition, which will affect Atlanta’s population; “It is a history story; a political story; a story of entrepreneurship all from one amazing person.”
However, for all of the fashion lovers, many garments from the most important designers in history such as Pierre Cardin, Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint-Laurent, Christian Dior and many more will be presented at the Ebony Fashion Fair.
Don’t miss this amazing occasion to learn more about the history of African-American fashion and Mrs. Eunice W. Johnson from October 19, 2014 through January 4, 2015 at the Museum of Design Atlanta.
