When you have to make the decision between playing in the biggest game of your life and seeing your son’s birth, which do you chose?
Well Seattle Seahawks cornerback, Richard Sherman, may have to make that decision on Sunday as his girlfriend Ashley Moss may give birth to their first child.
According to ESPN, the couple’s son is supposed to come “in the next week”, and Super Bowl Sunday could be the lucky…or unlucky (depending on how you look at it) day.
So – how is the Stanford alum handling the possibility of making the choice between seeing his first child’s birth or playing for the chance to win his second Super Bowl title?
“We have things in place in case that happen. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. But I didn’t know it was a topic of national debate, honestly. I would not like to miss the birth of my first kid, but hopefully and God willing, we won’t have to cross that bridge.” – Mashable.com
He went on to say:
“I think he’s going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game,” Sherman said with a smile, according to ESPN. “He’s going to do his father his first favor and stay in there for another week or two.”
Sherman isn’t the first athlete who’s had to make this tough choice as Mark McGwire and Joe Flacco faced the same decision in their careers.
I can only hope that the baby can hold off until after the Super Bowl because I’m sure fans and the rest of the Legion of BOOM would miss Richard if he didn’t play in the biggest game of his life.
If it came down to it, what decision do you think Richard would make?
