Marlo Hampton is a woman who wears many hats. From styling to being on hit reality TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hampton has managed to do it all—while still remaining fashionable. As she left the saga behind and moved forward to building her own empire—Hampton has set her own lane and is taking us on her journey to the top.
Hampton has worked with some of best in the entertainment industry when it comes to styling—from Fabolous, Jazze Pha, Yung Joc etc…to even styling NeNe Leakes before she was even featured on the show. Her love for fashion was undeniable. After styling for 11 years and owning her high-end store Red Carpet Boutique in Atlanta, Hampton gave styling a bit of a pause but slowly got back involved and thought of something bigger—her own web series based on girl talk, fashion and cocktails—all in Marlo’s closet.
“You know one day I was like…whenever my girlfriends come over here they are like ‘Marlo! You just want us to come over here and sit here and drink and talk about clothes all day.’ I said you know what that would be a great television show! So I talked to my team and I said we need to do MARLO’S CLOSET! So I got some of my girlfriends and some tastemakers on it!” mentions Hampton.
This fashionista didn’t stop there. Hampton is also the fashion contributor and expert for NBC’s 11Alive’s Atlanta and Co—which requires her to shift between being a stylist to being an expert. “They both go hand in hand. Some stylist really read and they are really on it and they know all the things that are going on and the person. The expert is what I see in my eyes.”
From fashion to giving back to her community. Hampton was inspired to start her own project Glam It Up! In 2011, which motivated young girls growing up in the foster care system like her to excel beyond their current status to achieve success in all areas of their lives.
That same year she also created another project Simply Giving. This project primarily focused on families and catering to their needs during the holiday seasons. Overall, Hampton isn’t a stranger to giving back, it’s something that came as second nature to her. “You have to give back,” mentions Hampton. “Your blessings comes from giving!”
With help comes love. And Hampton’s current love life has been blossoming. Although her past relationship was publicized on reality TV, this one has been kept under wraps. She is two years deep with her mystery man and mentions he is somewhat special. “Right now! He is special and I am in a happy situation and I can’t complain.”
Everything seems to be falling into place for Hampton. Some may find it hard to believe she wouldn’t make her way back to reality TV. But not too worry! She is willing to give it another shot. “I definitely would go back to reality TV, you wouldn’t be interviewing me now if it wasn’t for it,” she says. “Now I think I would be more aware and be more prepared for it. I’ll try to have a filter.”
While reality TV may still be on Hampton’s mind she still keeps up to date with her latest RHOA episodes and even enjoys the return of the originals cast: NeNe and Shereé. She gives Bravo their credit for the upcoming season.“The girls are all awesome! The Cynthia/Peter’s story was amazing and the fact that they are back together. Even seeing Kandy and Todd throughout their pregnancy and Kim was a surprised to me because I didn’t really see her on Real Housewives of Atlanta and Kenya never disappoints as always—So it’s always interesting.”
With all these fun projects coming from Hampton, we expect nothing but glam and more glam. From her new products and merchandise to her new upcoming segment Ask Marlo—she always keep us on our toes and wanting more.
