Legendary musician Prince will publish his first memoir in fall 2017. A statement from publisher Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of Random House, announced the news early this morning.
The memoir entitled The Beautiful Ones will mark the creative work and journey of the musician giving readers an overall vision of Prince’s life.“ This [book] will take readers on an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work — from the family that shaped him and the people, places, and ideas that fired his creative imagination, to the stories behind the music that changed the world,” mentions the publisher.
Prince let his fans know on March 18th at an industry music event, that this will be his first book in which his brother, Dan, will be heavily involved. He also mentions he valued his brother’s criticism and opinion and they will be starting at the very beginning of his musical journey. “We’re starting from the beginning from my first memory and hopefully we can go all the way up to the Super Bowl,” he says.
The Minneapolis-born singer has a career that spans of five decades. He reached the first Billboard Hot 100 in 1978 and the release of Purple Rain in 1984 made him an international superstar. The album alone spent 24 consecutive weeks at No. 1 the Billboard charts and sold more 13 million copies. He has also won seven Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award and was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Prince will remain a musical force in the industry and this upcoming memoir is a must for the talented soul. His upcoming book deal will be represented by Esther Newberg and Dan Kirschen at ICM Partners.
