At the CFDA Awards, fashion insiders get together to celebrate the best practitioners of their craft, but you don’t have to be an expert to appreciate the red carpet’s best dressed. This is the party to which Rihanna wore that infamous see-through dress in 2014, after all. This year’s red carpet was filled with the elite in fashion, invitation only everyone from super models legendary designers and of course Anna Wintour walked the carpet in fashions best. To accept the CFDA’s Fashion Icon Award, Beyoncé, taking a break from Formation World Tour, Beyoncé sparkled in a pinstriped Givenchy suit and a wide-brimmed black hat straight from her The Formation World Tour, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Christian Louboutin shoes; she accepted the award from fellow fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg. With Jay Z, Blue Ivy, and Tina Knowles in the audience, the Lemonade artist delivered an incredibly powerful speech. “We have an opportunity to contribute to a society where any girl can look at a billboard or magazine cover and see her own reflection. Soul has no color. No shape, no form,” she said. “Just like all your work it goes so far beyond what the eyes can see. You have the power to change perception, to inspire and empower, to show people how to embrace their complications and flaws and see the true beauty that’s inside all of us.”
