Balmain proves you can’t go wrong with denim

Balmain is one brand that completely gets cultivating the culture of fashion. They have found ways to reimagine denim, taking it to new heights. Probably best known for his musings in women’s fashion, Oliver Rousteing serves as creative director. The 2017 Spring/Summer Mens Collection serves denim in a whole new way. What’s even more interesting is that Rousteing believes that fashion is so much bigger than what we wear. His vision is a reflection of who he is.  It is purposed with being mixed and diverse. The show was presented in Paris amid many of his celebrity friends. Dwayne Wade was sitting front row. The fact of the matter is that denim will always be essential in fashion. It is easily one of the most accessible pieces because there is no limit in its creativity, especially for men. You can layer it, mix and match it, or customize it, so that your denim is the highlight of your outfit. Don’t get me wrong, most people hear about a Canadian Tuxedo, (denim worn from head to toe) and immediately think of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, circa 2001 at the AMA’s, but look at how far we’ve come. Denim will always trend. From jeans, to denim shirts and jackets, Balmain features entire ensembles that reconstruct denim in ways that are innovative and matter of fact. The show featured over 80 looks, including a small women’s presentation.

The contrast of denim is so seamless, not unlike any other Balmain presentation. The brand has become iconic because it shows how fashion continues to connect us all. The images are all easily accessible, and chances are if you survey your closet you might be able to find ways to put those old denim pieces to good use. Take some time and go through your denims, you’ll be right on trend for summer.
