Actor, model, musician, designer, urban philosopher… I mean what else can I say the list goes on for Jaden Smith, who just happens to also be the first ever solo male cover model on the front of Nylon Magazine. NYLON’s cover story gets in-depth with the 17-year-old, super dope, gender-bending son of Will Smith. Smith talks about how he is able to transcend masculine norms and about the decision to wear skirts in everyday life, posting photos of himself modeling for Louis Vuitton and wearing nail polish to his Instagram account.
Smith tells NYLON:
“So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. It just doesn’t matter. I’mtaking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”
He goes on to describe his time on set for LV as “lit.” Smith has always been one for eccentric yet super dope fashion statements and one wise beyond his years. The question really is, when will Smith give us a collection or collab with a luxury street wear brand so that we could also bask in the dopeness that is Jaden Smith?
