Odell Beckham Jr. is in pursuit of excellence. The New York Giants wide receiver wants Olympic Gold medalist Usain Bolt to train him during the off season.
In a tweet on Thursday Odell wrote “let’s speed train this off season ?!” accompanied by a video of his fastest run in this past Sunday’s game. It seems Odell is trying to show Bolt that he is worthy to be trained; however, the method in which Bolt was “asked” is very impersonal and comes off more like an entitlement than a request.
Beckham’s speed is no surprise as it may have been inherited from his mother who was an All-American sprinter for LSU in the 90’s. Currently Beckham’s speed highest speed is 21.85 from his 61-yard touchdown catch on Sunday night’s game. Reigning Olympian, Bolt is at 27.85 at his highest speed.

If Bolt agrees to speed train Beckham this won’t be his first rodeo. Bolt speed trained South Africa’s Wayde Van Niekerk last summer and went on to break the world record in the 400 meters in the Olympic final (Sports Illustrated, 2016).
While I’m sure Beckham would never outrun Bolt in a race, it would be nice to see how much faster he can get with Bolts training.
