Arriving on the music scene the alluring afro-pop siren known as Ferow offers a wide variety of coolly crafted feel good songs that are a hypnotic combination of life experiences and sensual moods. Emotion is a key factor in her music, and like any adept performer Ferow is able to inject her passions into her craft to create a unique sound that nourishes this generation of music listeners with sweetly sultry tunes. Ferow is a performer that you don’t want to sleep on.
“I’m in DC now, and the shut-down is hard because a lot of plans have changed,” Ferow told me in regards to the covid-19 pandemic. Like many of us, the afro-pop singer has had to work around the disadvantages of being on lock-down. “I’m use to being around people for certain parts of the creative process, so its an adjustment. But its cool right now. I’m very focused on myself, I’m meditating, working-out, spending more time with God, writing and just being chill.”
While some may not be familiar with the particular term [afro-pop] used to describe the musical genre, Ferow’s airy vocals gently soaring over rhythmic beats create an intoxicatingly hot summer sound.
A song the Afro-pop siren recently released For You, is a record for anyone looking for an urban sound that falls outside of the lines of contemporary R&B. “I express myself by how I feel in the moment. For you was about the high of being in love with someone. I worked with Dermo on that cut. It was so fun recording with him, I learned so much about the business of music. We recorded together for about 6 weeks.”
Not stopping with her current releases, Ferow is set to release more tunes this fall. With some collaborative projects in the making, Ferow is putting the finishing touches on two EP’s set to release this fall. When its all said and done, Ferow’s songs do exactly what the singer crafted them to do--make you move. “Afro-pop has a lot of beats. Its gonna make you dance. I write what I feel and about anything that I’ve been through. I wanna make music that will make people good and make people feel free. My music comes from a place of happiness. I have two EP’s coming this fall, one of them is a collab with B-Symone. He’s dope. Its always fun making music with friends so this is gonna be a blast.”
