Body shaming and social media have unfortunately became hand and hand. People are being becoming more bold and sometimes bluntly rude in the comments they make on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Amazon Fashion is on a mission to make fashion and social media a much nicer place.
Amazon Fashion launched its #saysomethingnice campaign with videos posted on the web.The video titled “Say Something Nice” stars international style bloggers like Susie Bubble, Camille Charriere, Samar Seraqui de Buttafoco, Masha Sedgwick, Freddie Harrel and Gala Gonzalez, alongside model Clementine Desseaux and fashion designer Hana Tajima, talking about times they’ve felt judged for their bodies or their style choices. The video also shows the opposite side of the coin. The fashionistas discuss how they have placed judgment or made a negative comment about someone else. At the end of the video, they all pledge to say something nice and to turn negative judgments into compliments. “Let’s make fashion and social media a place where you can experiment without fear of judgement,” Tajima says.
The videos are shot in youtuber style, with each fashionista being shot speaking from what could be here home. Amazon Fashion Europe is headlining the campaign but it is not only limited to them. Let’s hope this movement spreads across social media.
