If you watched season 2 of L.A. Hair then you saw the finale when hair stylist extraordinaire Angela Christine got her walking papers from H.B.I.C Kim Kimble, elite hair stylist to Beyoncé Shakira, Mary J. Blige and many A-Listers in Hollywood and abroad. Perhaps Angela got the big head when she took a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Thailand with one of her clients, Rita Ora and Snoop Dogg (or Lion) to do a video. Were the powers that be a little ‘jelly’ or did Angela Christine just fumble the ball in her professionalism? From the outside looking it, I would say it could have been a little of both.
The bottom line is that it was time for Angie to spread her wings and fly and the right jet came along to facilitate her bigger dreams of being the outsider in the shop. I couldn’t take another moment of seeing her there with that sad and disgusted look on her face after she stepped out on faith, leaving a voicemail message that she was leaving the country unexpectedly for her boss lady, Kim Kimble. No bueno! Did she think she would be welcomed back with a warm reception of hugs and kisses? Snoop must have been blowing too much of that killer Cali in her face.
Knowing that it was time to part ways, Kim gave Angie her blessings after a heated confrontation and she left the shop in a bittersweet ending. Although she appeared to be holding back tears, I’m sure in her heart of hearts, Angie knows there is more in store for her and it could very well be her own loyal list of celebrity clientele bringing more travels around the world to more beautiful and exotic places. Who wants to sit up in a hot hair salon anyway? As a talented hair stylist, I won’t be surprised if she follows in Kim’s footsteps or even takes it up a notch.
In a recent interview Angela Christine did with Kontrol, she expressed her respect for Kim Kimble as a business woman and what she has learned in terms of business acumen.
“You can never be too prepared. When preparation meets opportunity, that’s when you’re able to find yourself in more successful positions and you’re able to acquire new things and take your career to the next level. Kim Kimble is definitely one of those people that has everything and knows about almost everything. I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned from her is to be prepared and to try to obtain as much knowledge as you can however you can. That’s what got her where she is,” said Angela.
Things have moved fast in L.A. for the Chicago native “L.A. is a whole different beast in a good way. It’s a machine that pumps out the most amazing dreams and the most creative lines sometimes. There’s no city like it, because everybody is thinking about the next big thing they can be apart of. You can’t find that in too many places,” said Angela.
Her 5 year plan is very simple. She wants to see herself happy. “I am trying to carve out my own sense of happiness and success out here. It’s not easy living in a city with no family and not very many friends. Professionally, I would hope to be back in Chicago, or wherever my family lies,” said Angela.
She also plans to develop her own brand which includes innovative hair pieces, tools and educational DVDs. Those who would like to learn more about Angela Christine can follow her on Twitter and Instragram @AngelaCStyles or subscribe to her weekly YouTube tutorials.
