It was a BET Hip Hop Awards winning weekend but once again the “celebs” of Atlanta missed the fashion mark. T.I. celebrated his 33rd peep show birthday at 200 Peachtree with attendees such as Nelly, Jason Geter (Grand Hustle), B.o.b, Young Dro, Brandy, Diddy, Tameka Raymond, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Bob Whitfield, Monyetta Shaw, Mali Hunter (TreeSound), Princess (Crime Mob), Josh Smith (ATL Hawks), Rico Love, Erica Dixon, Mimi Faust & Shay Johnson and many more.
One would think with a guest list like this and the dress code being cocktail attire, folks would get it right. You see, Atlanta is the leggings capital of the world and if it’s not leggings, tight and short or sagging skinny jeans and a t-shirt folks don’t know what to wear. T.I. looked dapper and even Nelly but the rest of this failed fashion is embarrassing. It seemed like a nice party with a lot of visual stimulation.
Cocktail attire is usually described as less formal than formal attire, but not too casual. Similar to but usually slightly less formal than semi-formal attire, it typically means a dark suit or slacks and a sport coat for men, and a cocktail dress or nice blouse and skirt for women.
SN: I attended the Grand Hustle block party and overheard “I don’t want to get dressed up to party so I’m not going.” Do better Atlanta!
