Azealia Banks apologizes for homophobic comments

“Better late than never…but never late is better.”

Azealia Banks took to Twitter after performing at LA PRIDE, of all places, to address the elephant in the room:  she finally apologized for the homophobic slurs made in a heated debate some time ago with blogger Perez Hilton.

Many were taken by surprise as the rapper initially saw nothing wrong with her actions and defended them:

“Here we go again. Everyone pretending to be so shocked and moved by the word faggot,” she vented on Twitter last year. “It’s like society is so bored with itself it needs to hold on to these outdated rules of what you can say and cannot say. Why has society accepted ‘ni*gger’ As a colloquialism. But will not accept ‘faggot’, everyones always acting like its f*cking 1905 in this b*tch..” (Source)

Nonetheless, she had a change of heart after performing for a crowd that showed her love even after her insensitive comments. She tweeted:

She didn’t have to be specific because the streets is always watching and never forget.  Perez graciously responded and accepted her apology…

…and all was well with the world again.

This newfound humility is a good look, as she turned off a lot of fans with her random rants and beefs.  I wonder if she’ll ever apologize to Izzy Azalea?
