Celebs Defy Met Gala Ban on Selfies

Anna Wintour and the Metropolitan Museum of Art called for a ban on selfies and videos at Mondays Met Gala, some attendees decided to do the opposite.

One of this year’s most glamorous and anticipated events reportedly sent out announcements to their guests stating, “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala,” said Page Six.

You can only imagine the devastation for selfie royalty like Kim Kardashian West, Lady Gaga, Kendall Jenner, and Beyoncé.

Of course rules were meant to be broken. Some of the rule beakers were: Justin Beiber, Kanye West, Reese Witherspoon, and Kerry Washington.

The most relentless selfie-outlaw was Beyoncé, who posted all together nearly 10 selfies before and during the gala. Who could blame her; she had to flaunt her custom floor-length, bejeweled-gown by Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci.Screen Shot 2015-05-06 at 11.53.25 PM

Some good did come from the selfie rebellion. Madonna posted a couple of selfies, one of which, she embraced Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. The trio had been rumored to be at odds with each other, but this glorious pop pic looked like nothing but love.

The ban on selfies was not just a rule to annoy the guests, Vogue is filming a documentary on the Met Ball called, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” featuring the Chinese fashion themed exhibition.
