Bill Cosby Countersued Seven Women for Destroying His Image
Bill Cosby to you, Mr. Bill Cosby to me! This is a tough story to blog about because I grew up watching Mr. Bill Cosby and I have always and I still do have the uttermost respect for him. While my personal opinion may not matter, I would like to simply state whether he is guilty or not guilty, his professional achievements and the positive impact he has made cannot be dismissed. Discrediting or stripping him of all his dignity is like saying Albert Einstein doesn’t deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for his services to Theoretical Physics and his discovery of the photoelectric effect because he supposedly sexually assaulted women (“The Nobel,” 2015) . I’m not saying Mr. Albert Einstein sexually assaulted anyone. I’m simply making a point that he is a great scientist regardless of the dirt the media aired about him. With that said, I do empathize with women who have been sexually abused because this is a sensitive topic. No one should ever have to experience a horrific situation of being sexually assaulted and no one should ever have to face the public embarrassment of stepping forward to accuse the attacker.
Now, about the counterclaim. Mr. Bill Cosby recently countersued seven women out of the more than fifty women who have accused him of sexually assaulting them. He has denied the allegations and no charges have been filed. The counterclaim is Mr. Cosby’s response to the suit brought against him by Traitz, Serignese, Green, Bowman, Tarshis, Moritz and Leslie.
In short, after the accusations, Mr. Bill Cosby is firing back. The counter claim is also for interference and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Since the accusations, the damages have taken a toll on Mr. Cosby. A deal for a new family comedy show on NBC and a deal with Netflix were delayed or destroyed. In addition, Mr. Cosby continues to lose honorary degrees. The honorary degree from The Boston University was revoked and Fordham, Marquette and Brown universities also withdrew the honorary degrees (Ellis, 2015) .
I will keep hoping that this nightmare will be over soon. In the meantime, enjoy your GIFT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE and BE MERRY!
