What made you want to do event planning?
I was a Cabaret performer for about 8 years and Cabaret was drying up and my life coach told me to go into catering to build my platform; I thought he was crazy, but I did it anyway, and that’s how I started event planning.
Did you have a passion for event planning/catering?
My grandmother was a church society lady, so after church they would put on the dinners and the cocktail reception and I was always in the kitchen or at the church helping her out. I’m from Detroit so I was a member of a big church called St. Paul Church on Dexter Avenue. I was falling in my grandmother’s coattail, that’s how I began my passion for event planning.
Tell me about your first experience meeting Chef Roblé.
Roblé and I met 7 years ago, I was working for a company as an event planner and Roblé was working with me on events. When I first spotted Roblé, I thought wow he has a lot of energy and he can think on his feet, so when I got back to the office I requested that he work on every event with me after that and he did for about 8 months and he always use to tell me he was going to be on a TV show and I was going to be on it with him and I always use to say, “of course Roblé!” Everybody was like call Roblé he has been looking for you and of course I did and I was asked all these questions and that’s how I got on the show.
What made you want to work with Chef Roblé?
When I first met Roble he was very energetic and get the job done type and I like that type of energy. A lot of chefs have egos and I felt like Chef Roblé was egos- free at the time and that’s why I wanted to work for him.
How did you feel about your work being portrayed in reality TV?
Being thrown out in front of the camera I didn’t know I would be so exposed. I had people tell me I wear my emotions on my face until I saw it on TV. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and for people to see my style and how I carry myself is part of my training; I was always taught to be professional as much as possible and be able to handle any situation and I thought they portrayed that very well. I like my image on TV.
