As a mother, businesswoman and purveyor of glamour, Stephanie Williams emphasizes maintenance and stylish execution. Having worked with some of the industry’s best and brightest brands, she sat with Kontrol to share a little of her expertise on beauty and of course the art of having great eyebrows. The owner of BrowZnAround Eyebrow Studio + Spa, Stephanie Williams, created BrowZnAround to be a different kind of esthetic experience. It was her dream to create the luxury atmosphere of a spa while keeping her services affordable and accessible. BrowZnAround is changing the game for brow sculpting and permanent cosmetics in the Raleigh, NC.
“I opened up my shop in 2008, during a recession.” she told us. “Around that time, I did an interview and lady asked me, how am I opening up a business during a recession?
Let me tell you, people will spend their last dollar to look good.
When you look good, you feel good and you do good.”
Stephanie is also the mastermind behind a cosmetic line of the same name. BrowZnAround offers eyebrow and lash maintenance cosmetics. Having worked alongside founder of Anastacia Beverly Hills, Anastacia Soare, it’s safe to say Stephanie Williams is a master of small details. Whether its an interview or a day out, having great brows go into having a great image and looking-the-part.
“Everyone at my studio is a licensed esthetician,” she tells us.
“It’s a bit different from what you find in other spas now. We do facial and body waxing, microblading, brow laminating and eye-lash enhancement. I always say the correct brow shape is like a mini brow-lift.”
As the saying goes, people judge you by two things when meeting you, your shoes and your outfit. A similar conclusion can be drawn from your make-up and consequently, your eyebrows. “Brows are one of the last things that people think about, but it makes all the difference, good or bad because its one of the first things you see. You can have a bad brow shape that doesn’t open up the eyes or brighten the face.”
Stephanie is keen on having a specialist do lashes and eyebrows. While doing it yourself at home may save money, its always better to get the full-service to avoid mistakes.
“What advice do you have for people who want to do their own brows?” I asked.
“Don’t,” (laughing).
“Going to a specialist really helps. Doing it yourself can cause mistakes.
You can make your brows too thin, or you can change the shape. But if you have its ok. My studio offers something called tinting. This works for people with thin brows and can also help fix those mistakes. Tinting dyes the hair and a small part of the skin around the brow area. It’s a semi-permanent treatment that lasts roughly 2-3 weeks. It gives the illusion of a thicker and neater brow.
But for the DIY people, I’ll say you can always comb the brow to the side and add a little bit of concealer when they aren’t freshly done.”
