The closet door has swung wide open Wednesday as Taylor Bennett, the brother of breakout sensation Chance The Rapper has revealed on Twitter that he considers himself a bisexual male.
Twitter seems to be a new source of releasing information; taking away the need and hoopla of having a press conference. Recently, the group Fifth Harmony revealed on Twitter the separation of group member Camila; now others are taking note and starting to give the public first-hand news via Twitter.
The revelation comes just one-day beforeTaylor Bennett’s 21st birthday, he stated in a Tweet:
My birthday is tomorrow & moving into next year I’d like to be more open about myself to help others that struggle with the same issues. Growing up I’ve always felt indifferent about my sexuality & being attracted 2 one sex & today I would like to openly come out to my fans. I do recognize myself as a bisexual male & do & have always openly supported the gay community & will keep doing so in 2017.
This revelation is huge for the rap industry, as it is largely homophobic and allegedly plagued with downlow men. Taylor not only had the public to deal with but also the reputations of his family; Chicago
Tribune notes he’s son of Choose Chicago senior adviser Ken Bennett, who used to work for President Obama and his mother, Lisa, previously worked for the Illinois attorney general. Luckily, Taylor has a great support system in his father–today his dad left this comment under his Instagram photo see (@rappersdad)
Bennett is set to celebrate his 21st birthday Thursday at Studio Paris in River North and debut a short film tied to his “Broad Shoulders” album Jan. 25. (Chicago Tribune, 2017)
Let’s all applaud Taylor for his bravery in admitting who he is without fault and ridicule.
