In a recently revealed campaign ad, Pharrell Williams is the first man to ever appear in a handbag ad by Chanel. As told to WWD by creative director Karl Lagerfeld, the Gabrielle bag can be worn in “many different circumstances,” implying that men too can use the famous style. In recent news, Pharrell can be spotted in Chanel‘s campaign videos for the Gabrielle bag, but definitely with his own spin on it of course. In the short Instagram clip, we see Pharrell casually walking with all the swag in the room, (being the only one there) in a warehouse full of music stage equipment with the luxury Gabrielle bag over his shoulder.
He does a balancing act on the steel beams and jumps on the rolling cases around him and it gets quite tricky at some moments. Then in the last couple of seconds of the clip being caught by a little boy with the brand’s logo written in his hand.
According to WWD, it turns out that Williams has already been using the Gabrielle bag as an everyday accessory. Williams states, “When I first started wearing it I didn’t have anything in it. I was just so excited to have it. But now I use it to carry my phone, and — you know — essential personal things.”
