Cleveland Cavaliers Falling Apart?

The downfall of the Cleveland Browns was disheartening to witness but what’s simmering in the Cleveland Cavaliers locker room could be more deadly.  The elation of LeBron James’ homecoming has worn off; angst and agony have crept in and colored the Cavs perception. The Cavs have dropped three straight games and LeBron James is sidelined for 2 weeks with injury.  Cleveland fan’s fingers are growing itchy to press the eject button and abort the season.  The Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt could have used a call ahead concerning LeBron’s homecoming.  He will be the first to go but this was not the job he signed up for.

Blatt is anonymous in the United States but he’s an international man of basketball, leading the Macabbi Electra Tel Aviv basketball team to the 2014 Euroleague championship.  The Cavaliers championed him as a highly acclaimed and innovative offensive mind.  Though the Cavs are a middle in the road offensive team, their defense is truly horrid.  The Cavaliers are allowing their opponents to shoot 46.9% from the field and do not rebound the ball well.

Coaching goes beyond X’s and O’s and in a star driven league like the NBA, the best players must allow themselves to be coached.  On top of this, the injury bug has bitten LeBron, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love.  There are many reasons for the Cleveland Cavaliers struggles but Blatt will get the blame, especially since he has no NBA stature.  Someone who has the required NBA standing is his top assistant coach Tyronn Lue.  With the buzzards circling and Lue waiting in the wings, David Blatt must beware the Ides of March.
