This week, Coach, american luxury handbag maker, announced that they will be buying luxury women’s shoe designer and manufacturer, Stuart Weitzman.
Stuart Weitzman is hoping that this acquisition will help them to leverage some of Coach’s already established brand while being able to expand their repertoire/offerings, “We are excited to be working with the Coach team and leveraging its strong infrastructure to help us drive efficiency and expand our product mix to an even broader consumer base worldwide.” said Stuart Weitzman, creative director and executive chairman of the brand.
Coach is looking forward to the collaboration as well, “We look forward to benefiting from the Stuart Weitzman team’s expertise in footwear development, where they’re proven leaders in fashion and fit,” Coach CEO Victor Luis mentioned in a press release.
This could be good for Coach as they try to redefine and grow their brand to compete with other retailers. Some experts are skeptical, but the next couple of months and years will tell. I believe that Coach has a well established brand and following to be able to only benefit from having some of the creative and expertise tidbits that Stuart Weitzman will be able to offer.
