Last Friday, The Freight Depot hosted Blindside lead Quinton Aaron for his birthday celebration and the Atlanta Celeb Fest weekend kickoff. Local talent and the dynamic Six-Thirty house band rocked the crowd with original material and took us back with classic covers. This kickoff party brought out Atlanta’s finest from a crown holder to a cowboy and I loved watching everyone interact and enjoy the jamming live music.
The evening opened with local vendors displaying their fanfare. Coffee drinkers to jewelry lovers received a taste of local gems in the city they may not have seen before. Later, the Six-Thirty band welcomed party goers with hit songs led by their engaging lead vocalists.
Finally, reality star, singer, songwriter and friend to the magazine Kelsey Nykole headlined the event with her sexy dance track “Can’t Feel my Legs.” Before Miss Nykole, Dola Thurmon warmed up the crowd with a few well-loved Whitney Houston covers and the gorgeous former Voice contestant Brittnee Camelle delivered with original material from her upcoming EP, “Voices in my Head.” No need for a DJ, as the Six-Thirty band kept the crowd nice with favorites on the radio today and from the early 2000s and nineties in between performances.
Kontrol cover girl Demetria McKinney graced the Depot as well looking white hot in this number. The celebs and performers graciously mingled with the crowd, posing for pics and supporting the other artists.
