After being out of the limelight for years, D’Angelo made his epic return to the stage on Saturday as he performed two tracks off of his recent album, Black Messiah.
D’Angelo appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live where he gave a powerful performance of “Really Love” and a powerful second performance “The Charade”.
According to Love B. Scott, the soulful crooner’s performance of “The Charade” gained national attention which provided a message about the recent race issues in America.
Dressed in a black hoodie (paying respects to Trayvon Martin), D’Angelo’s band, The Vanguard, wore “I Can’t Breathe” shirts for Eric Garner, and the most powerful gesture was the chalk outlet of slain Ferguson teen Mike Brown.
