Paris-based designer Rick Owens did something that no designer has ever done. He recruited step dancers from college sororities all over the U.S. to perform for his runway show. Not only that, there were women of color and looked liked your “average” woman as far as weight is concerned. Over the past few weeks, there has been talk about diversity on the in fashion, specifically the runway and I’m glad that Rick took that chance.
“He recruited us after he saw us on YouTube,” Allyn Toles, 21, a Delta Sigma Theta sorority sister from the University of Maryland said backstage afterward. “It’s our first time in Paris, and we’re having a blast.”
