Don’t Sweat it Out! Protective Hair Styles for the Gym

Spring is secretly trying to kick winter’s ass and bring us some warm weather. Thank God! And with that being said, it’s time to start putting work in at the gym! If you guys are anything like me, out having an intense workout, feeling like you’ve conquered the world, then to have that feeling stripped away because your hair now looks like “WTF”. In order to avoid this, try some of these protective hairstyles that will make hair become much more manageable whenever you start breaking out a sweat.

1. Sew- In Weave: Weaves are great for a plethora of reasons- your hair is braided under them, so that moisture from sweating really doesn’t affect your hair. If you have some hair left out in the front or sides, try wearing a sweatband. Your hair will retain some moisture but not as much as it would if it were just left out.

2. French Braid- If you wear your natural hair to the gym, try braiding it into a french braid. It’s cute, effortless, and very easy to manage.

3. Poetic Justice Braids- These are a personal favorite of mine because they are so versatile and long lasting. With braids, you can do almost anything. When going to the gym, put them up in a high ponytail, then get to work!

4. Two- Strand Twists- This is another great protective style for my females rocking natural hair. With two-strand twists, you just literally get up and go. If you want your edges to remain flat, also try wearing a sweatband to reduce the amount of moisture.

 

In the words of Kanye- “That’s right, put in work. Move your ass, go wizzerk. Eat your salad, no dessert. Get that man you deserve!”
