Fashion with a Cause
The Zina Garrison Tennis Academy brought The Hamptons to Houston with their swanky outdoor fashion show on Sunday, March 4, 2018. The Ace of Love Fashion Show was a lovely addition to ZGA’s Eat Play Love charity weekend. Guests arrived to an extravagant Houston home and were greeted with vegan-friendly hors d’oeuvres, libations, and the smiling faces of the ZGA students. The Zina Garrison Tennis Academy united the world of tennis with fashion and philanthropy for an event to remember.
Tennis legend Zina Garrison founded The Zina Garrison Tennis Academy in 1992. Zina is committed to encouraging the youth and helping them evolve through tennis. “Tennis is great because it builds character and the children’s self esteem. They learn about accountability and commitment and many more life lessons.” ZGA has helped over 40,000 young Houstonians learn the sport of tennis and provides college preparatory classes.
The Zina Garrison Tennis Academy students exuded confidence as they strutted down the runway alongside Houston celebrity athletes. The ZGA students modeled fabulous active wear like tennis champion Venus William’s sportswear line EleVen. In Zina’s fashion the event ended with design students from the Art Institute of Houston getting a chance to showcase their work and compete for a $1,000 prize.
Eat Play Love was awe-inspiring for Houstonians of all ages. The charity weekend helps Zina continue her mission to give young people opportunities that she was afforded to as a young tennis player. The Zina Garrison Academy provides 45 weeks of free programming, wellness and nutrition lessons, ACE training, and so much more. The Zina Garrison Academy has been going strong for 26 years and has many more years to go!
