Effective Ways to Reduce Stress Besides Smoking

A job with pending deadlines, young children at home and bills past due are just a few examples of things that can cause stress. Many people when they feel overwhelmed or anxious, move to light up a cigarette. Unfortunately, smoking cigarettes is not the best way to feel relief due to the well-established health dangers associated with a traditional tobacco habit. The good news is that there are plenty of other healthier ways to reduce your stress levels and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.


If you can’t seem to just drop the cigarette habit stone cold, you can use vaping as a way to continue to receive the nicotine your body craves and then slowly wean off them in lower doses. While e juice and e liquid do contain nicotine, they don’t have the over 1,000 chemicals that you find in a single cigarette.


Meditation puts you in touch with you for a short while and lets you escape the world, even if only for a few minutes. The nice thing about meditating is that you don’t need to go to a gym or spend money on equipment. Meditation restores peace within your universe. It’s a time when you relax your mind, toss away for worries and drift off into a zone. After a few minutes of total relaxation, you feel rejuvenated, focused and calm.


It’s true, music soothes the soul. Select music that’s calming. While you can listen to whatever suits your fancy, classical music seems to place you in a state of utopia and instantly cause a calming effect. It can also help to lower your blood pressure and allow you to fully destress. A 20-minute session once a day can do wonders for you and your family.

Take a Walk

There’s something about a brisk walk and its ability to wash the stress out of your system. After one, you feel energized, alert and ready to tackle just about anything. A clear head can sometimes help you to solve problems and handle obstacles in your life with ease.

Redistribute Some of Your Workload

This makes it difficult for you to hand off work and as a result, you can become overwhelmed and raise your level of stress. Luckily, you can reduce your stress level quickly, by putting your trust and faith in others. This applies to your office staff as well as family members at home. You don’t need to do everything. Once you realize this and start to redistribute some of the work or tasks at hand, you can take a breather and actually enjoy spare time.

Take a Day for You

Many people work full-time and raise a family. This leaves very little time to do the things you enjoy. If this sounds like you, it’s time to take a day for you. Go to the gym, take an art class, catch a movie and grab a dinner out, or simply enjoy having the house to yourself.


Laughter is a natural healer. A hearty laugh can lower blood pressure, give your immune system a lift and remove the worries of the day. Watch a funny show or movie or better yet, visit a friend that makes you laugh.

There are many natural ways that you can reduce stress without the need for putting your life at risk. Instead of lighting up a cigarette, try to do something that makes you and your body feel good.
