This Tampa based entrepreneur takes his shoe designs to new heights with patenting the ever so exotic “snake skin bottom”.
Everybody knows that a pair shoes can truly make or break your overall look. No matter where you decide to get your shoes, or who designed them, they truly serve as a “stamp of style” for any ensemble. There’s the intricate architecture of the Guiseppe Zanotti “Farrah Strappy”. Then there’s the iconic execution of the red outsole of a pair of Christian Louboutin’s. Cedrick McDonald takes shoe-making to new heights, and merging artistic architecture with an exotic approach on the out sole of the shoe. After chatting with him, we have come to find that he is truly making his mark as an outstanding shoemaker.
Born in Tampa, FL, and raised in New York City, Cedrick has always had an interest in all things artistic and entrepreneurship. Starting fresh out of high school as a hairstylist, McDonald knew that he would be using his special touch. Eventually, it became extremely useful on much more than a human head of hair. After spending a significant amount of time in New York City, Cedrick began to look into fashion more. He saw it as a work of art and wanted to add his own flare to it. “While working and living in New York City, I was a huge fan of Christian Louboutin. I began to be inspired by the red outsole of his shoes. They would pair with just about anything. I wanted to recreate that idea, so I decided to patent my own creation.” That’s when the snake print outsole idea came about.” After three tries, Cedrick was able to get the patent by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in 2017.
These Italian, handmade showstoppers are sure to suit your fancy, especially if you’re looking to take a walk on the wild side this season. Certainly, we should all know snake print is slowly, but surely becoming a neutral pattern. Taking this neutral pattern and pairing it with a gorgeous pair of pumps; Cedrick found a formula that truly works for him. Here are a few tips he shared on how to get your own business started:
Have your goals set in place.
Create deadlines for goals.
Set expectations for deadlines, and try to figure out what’s realistic within the goals set.
