Likely everyone’s favorite season, fall is that special time of year when hot cocoa, pumpkin spice, scarves and jackets are only a few of the things that go into making fall the stylishly celebrated season that it is. I’ve noted that none of the fashion trends I’ve seen are particularly stunning, I do feel some level of excitement for the ways we can apply them individually—I love seeing fashion from someone else’s perspective.
From vintage rocker influences, to fringe, and prep-school sophistication, this season’s fashion trends are closer to my personal style than I’ve seen in years past. Happily enough, there’s an element of effortlessness to the trends this season that excites me almost as much as the fashion trends themselves. Below are a few of the fashion runway trends this season that have caught my eye.
Heavy Metallic Mayhem
Metallic textiles are always loosely reminiscent of the vintage rocker of the 80’s. The element itself is so exuberant yet subtle that it can be effortlessly easily styled. Pair with accessories of a similar color to get the most out of this trend.

Cloaked in Style
Capes make statements on their own. There’s little need to explain something that is so simple yet so commanding and stylishly dramatic as the cape. The cape is one of those wonderful pieces that don’t require much, just a willing wearer with enough swag to throw it over their shoulders.
Balmain Fall/Winter 2020
My favorite part of plaid is its simple marriage into other elements in the style spectrum. It can be worn with leather for a vintage-rocker look, added to a skirt of blazer for a sophisticated prep-school look, or acid-washed with distraught denim for an angsty-punk 90’s look.

Prim and Prep Perfection (prep school)
While the prep-school look isn’t necessarily new, it’s one of 3 other trends (military, plaid and rocker) that remain a mainstay of the fall/winter season. The fun thing about this trend is that it can be dressed-up or down and is not restricted to the formality and restriction of formalwear.

Simply put, fringe is exuberant and fun. Its one of those wonderful things in fashion that don’t require a lot. Consider the fringe-dress. The right shoe and ideal accessories, and the look is complete. This season’s take on fringe is explosively commanding and equally fashionable.

Divas that Sparkle
Sequins always takes me back to the days of the disco-divas of the 1970’s like Diana Ross and Donna Summer. Like metallic and fringe pieces, sequins in effortless, eye-catching and fun.

There isn’t anything quite as stylish as a pair of riding boots paired with a jacket and crisp button-up. Fitting-in perfectly with the fall season, this effortless and stylish look is sure turn heads.
