Who would have ever thought that African American women contributed to the launch of the first man on the moon! Hidden Figures has unleashed it’s hidden powers of Fly Girls Support.
In its first week, Hidden Figures has debuted at #1 raking in $22.8 million and get this– the movie did that well with being in fewer theaters than most major releases.
Set in the 1960’s in the midst of racial segregation working at a high profile organization largely run by men and populated by the majority white race. Three mathematicians Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson shattered stereotypes and solved a never-been-done-before feat.
Hidden Figures is a screen adaptation centered around three African American women played by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae “who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operation in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big”.
Released nationwide on January 6, 2017, and Directed by Theodore Melfi, Hidden Figures is in theaters now.
